Ways to Make Money That Will Cost $1 to $15
This money making tactic is all about selling on Ebay! A lot of people are doing it and are doing it very successfully! Before I go on, make sure you have an Ebay account and a PayPal account (both are free)
Selling Ebooks on Ebay
Remember that gigantic amount of ebooks that I gave you? Well, you'll be happy to find out that a lot of those ebooks are currently being sold on ebay!
First of all, we want to see what ebooks are generating the most sales....because those are the ones that you're going to want to target. To do this, first go to the correct category, which is Everything Else > Information Products > How To Guides. Once there, click on the advanced search link to the right of the search box. Now, check the completed listings check box and click search....you will now be shown all the auctions that have finished for information products....prices in green are the ones that sold.
You'll probably notice that the more popular sellers are niches, such as gambling, sexual relationships, pets, recipes and so on. You will also notice that 'Make Money Online' ebooks dominate the listings by far, but are not the best sellers....So I would avoid selling in that niche at all costs!
I would suggest going after some of the niches mentioned above to start with. Look at some successful auctions and see what they offer in terms of number of ebooks and price. I would suggest staying away from single ebook auctions....instead try selling 100 to 1000 ebooks per auction listing!
In terms of creating your auctions, I suggest the following:
- mention the amount of ebooks in the auction title (ie. 1000 RECIPIE EBOOKS! INSTANT DOWNLOAD!)
- avoid using the subtitle option (costs $0.50!)
- for the gallery image option make sure to use a picture that will stand out from other auctions
- keep your description short and sweet
- use a fixed price listing and try to stay in the range of $0.99 to $9.99
- use a 7-day auction (default setting)
- try to start your auctions around 6pm PT (ebay time)....the most visitors are on at this time on average.
Without any other features, your listing will cost you around $0.40 to $0.50 depending on promotional deals.
In terms of how many auctions to run, I would suggest the following:
- start slow....create an auction every 3 to 4 days to start; using different products each time
- once you find a product (or products) that sells, start creating 2 or 3 auctions a week for that product
- as sales increase, start creating one auction a day for your product
- if you're really doing well, start creating 2 to 3 auctions a day
- remember to focus your scheduled start time around 6pm PT (ebay time) and branch out from there
IMPORTATNT: The main objective to making money with this technique is to be unique and offer something that no one else is....like a bonus product or program.
Selling Domain Names on Ebay
Another inexpensive way to make money on eBay is selling domain names. Domain names are the real estate market of the internet. Obtaining great domains is like investing in some digital land! What you need to do to start is go to GoDaddy.com and sign up for a free account. GoDaddy is the #1 site to purchase and hold your domains. You will find that 90% of the domains sold on ebay are hosted by GoDaddy.
To find some good domains takes some research, persistence and a little luck. For example (at the time of publishing...Dec. 07), LG and Verizon Wireless have just introduced a phone called the Voyager. This phone has been dubbed the 'Iphone Killer'. To me that is some big news, as the iphone is one of the most popular searches online today. So I went to GoDaddy and purchased about 10 domain names pertaining to the LG Voyager. On GoDaddy, .com domains can be purchased for $9.99, then I turned around and sold one on ebay for $26.00! That's almost a 300% return on investment! I've only sold one of them so far because i'm using the other Voyager domains for Google Adsense pages like this one. Right now i'm making around $10 a week from Adsense using those domains, which is not bad!
Currently (June 2008), the market for LG Voyager domains has dried up, because it really didn't take off like people thought it would. It's a good thing I was able to sell when I did. This just shows you how the market can change....much like the housing market!
3 and 4 letter .com domains (ex. REH.com or FGEC.com) - These domains are without a doubt the hottest to get your hands on. As of Nov. 07, all the 3 and 4 letter domains have been registered, so your best bet to getting some would be on eBay. Recently, 3 letter domains have been selling for $100 and up, and 4 letter domains have been selling from $20 to $50 depending on the letter combination. I sold QMBG.com in Jan. 2008 for $46.00, and I was one of the last lucky few that registered a 4 letter domain....460% ROI!!!
I would suggest picking up some 4 letter domains and sitting on them for a year or so, then turn around and sell them for a nice profit. It won't be long before 4 letter domain prices climb to the current 3 letter domain price range...I know this is over $15 dollars, but it's a great investment!
I would also suggest registering some 5 letter domains as some of them are currently selling for $15 to $20
Here are some other current hot trends:
- Domains with a PageRank - I just sold a PR3 domain for $32.00....doesn't seen to matter what the name is
- Dictionary terms - very popular, best chance to get one of these is using a expired domain search (below)
- Expired domains with backlinks - this is a webmasters dream because the hard work is done for them!
